The Birthmark by Nathaniel Hawthorne Essays -- English Literature

First Paper - The Birthmark by Nathaniel HawthorneAs human beings, we ar NOT perfect It is part of our nature to beflawed one way or another. But there argon some who recognise to believethe opposing view. The theme of Nathaniel Hawthornes short story TheBirthmark is how homo fight forcefully against Nature forperfection. It is those humans who, eventually, learn that Naturecannot be careend or revised.Aylmer was a famous scientist and philosopher who achieved greatwonders. All his life, he has make remarkable discoveries and wonnumerous awards. His life revolved around both deep passions - the lovefor Nature perfection and the love for his wife, Georgianaimperfection. He believes the world is perfect, that little does herealize his life is rather imperfect.Georgiana is a really beautiful woman who loved her husband dearly. Shewas indeed beautiful with the ejection of one flaw - her birthmark. This single mark lied on her go away white cheek that resembled the shapeof a hand . This mark is known as the crimson hand. Her ravisher isimperfect because of this calamitous mark. Although this beauty markhindered Georgianas beauty in Aylmers eyes, others dont see thispoint. Other people, such as Aminadab, feel that she is beautiful withor without the fatal birthmark.Aylmer was always fazed by her birthmark. Everyday, he goeshysterical over his wifes birthmark. As a productive scientist whohas accomplished anything and everything, he decides to removeGeorgianas fatal mark. He mixes up a concoction which will removeher birthmark. He realizes that the concoction is dangerous, unless heproceeds with his task in hope to remove her fatal mark. His potion, known as the elixir o... ...is wifes life. Knowing that theconcoction is dangerous, he proceeds with it instead of accepting hiswifes beauty. He took his wifes beauty for granted and he paid forhis consequences. In a sense, Nature is just like fate. It has been already set up andthere is no point to try to chang e it. Nature cannot be changed andshouldnt be attempted to be changed. Of course, there are alwaysconsequences in trying to change something that has already been setup. The to a greater extent one tries to alter Nature, the more they will hurtthemselves and others around them.In another sense, Nature is like paragon. Nature is similar to God becauseit is a concept one must comprehend. Nobody can take the luff of Godand the same mentality should be understood for Nature as well. Naturecannot be changed nor can God be replaced. Nature and God are thingsone can just accept.
